I think the game as a spectacle has declined coupled with the farcical VR and CC fiasco that seems to work in the NRL but not here for some reason.
Our TV deals are not amounting to much and our stock has reduced amongst the neutrals who basically see us for what it is, a northern sport played by northerners and covered by northerners.
Probably not all down to IMG of course. But to get us noticed we need some better people at the top to grab it by the scruff of the neck. Nigel Woods is not that person by any stretch of the imagination.
Hearns maybe maybe not. Better commentators who don`t sound like Eddie Waring/Ray French maybe.
Merging of clubs, not that has never been mentioned!
It is a real dilemma how we progress for sure.
We don't need to ditch IMG to get a good leader, IMG are only consultants and they do not implement anything, unfortunately the clubs still have too much influence.
It seems the clubs don't like paying IMG 450,000 per year, split that out between the clubs and its peanuts to have a huge Sports Marketing agency on board and the clubs haven't really shown in the past they are capable of moving the sport forward.
14 teams is definitely the right way to go (IMG even said this) but its got to be done in the correct manner and not just shoehorning teams in
