Who do you think is the best winger playing today?

It can be NRL or ESL. If it was judged today on recent performances?

I think we can allow international showings as well.


I have taken this idea from a different board. I am sure it was a troll, considering the answer given by some, but it has inspired me to think about the question.

I don't think I will answer jsut yet.

Vatuvei for me. Although some of the more deluded wigan fans are adamant that it is richards. Uate at newcastle is also a belting winger.

I do not understand the Vatuvei love in at all the bloke is no better than francis meli....

he's a big powerful unit and will always score with ball in hand from two or three yards out, but he plays the game with a permanantly suprised look on his face and he's right to do so because i'm suprised he hasnt been found out more often....

cant defend cant catch, this was him to a T at the start of the season then towards the end his handling improved and he was flavour of the month again....

however he has the Jamal Idris effect ...i.e he [i[ulooks[/u[/i like an immense rugby player so surely he must be...!!!


Brett morris for me, pace, good footwork,great passing ability and great defence.....however he looks like a choirboy so might not get the majority vote...

Ade Gardner by plenty and then some.

I agree, its a close call though between him and Mark Calderwood.

Jason Nightingdale hands down! Only people to come close are Perret and Uate

I don't get all this Richards bashing. A winger who can score tries, makes good meters, can kick well, and is current Man of Steel - I'd have him a Warrington without doubt. Wouldn't you?

Nobody is bashing richards, he is very good and i would have him at wire. But even if he was playing in P+B i still wouldn't be claiming he is the best winger in the world like some of the wigan fans are. As i stated on the wigan board there is no british based player who is the world's best in their chosen position. It's a sad fact, but it's true.

From my limited NRL viewing, I'd go with Nightingale too.
