Quote Donnyman="Donnyman"The second world war war broke the habit years ago, but post war crowds were bigger than ever - Once it was all over and people felt safe they flocked to rugby and soccer because they had the freedom, the danger was over, and they wanted to get out of the house.
1948 season Wire.v.Wigan 34,000 crowd, 1947 Leeds,v,Bradford 40,000 these were just league games...........'"
Probably nothing worth watching on the 250 TV channels they had back then either and ryanair and easyjet flights weren't as cheap as they are now

2022, if you're back to a semblance of normality then, is going to be a HUGE year for many sporting clubs. Football isn't even immune.....Union and League being niche sports will have to work overtime to get their pre-covid fans back, let alone new ones. The average age of fans at London Broncos is north of 55yrs.....it's similar at a great many clubs.....we're at the last generation of 'my dad took me's"......the game needs to adjust its offering and strategy.
