| Taking on received wisdom |
 Now that's a prop |
Recent weeks have seen certain assertions made by the RFL's broadcast partners which have raised the hackles. Prime among these is the claim that Iafeta Paleaasina is some sort of super-prop. This is rubbish and here's for why. |

| TO come up short in Barrow |
Nathan Wynn's influence was missed |
The day before Toulouse went to Barrow, the Cumbrian side announced their biggest signing for many years when Jamie Rooney joined the club for the rest of the season. Although it's been a torrid few months in Rooney's career, he's still a class act and it felt like it was written in the stars that he'd be the main man. And so it came to pass. On a scorching hot evening, Toulouse gave their all in a pulsating clash, but Barrow and Rooney would not be denied.

| Martins back as Rovers land in France |
Second game of his ban |
We reported the news on June 9, and it seems the national media has finally caught up with us. Well done to you, national media. Anyway, the upshot is that Dragons cast-off Sébastien Martins returns to the club for a second stint and, this time, he looks like he might actually play a game. With Dane Carlaw injured and Jamal Fakir still banned, the ex-Donkey is in line to face his former club, Hull Kingston Rovers, on Saturday.

I'll play scrum half if you go on the wing. No, wait... |
by Mark Hall
Sky TV roll into Barrow on Thursday night, when the Cumbrians welcome Toulouse Olympique. The Men from Minimes let the game slip away on Saturday night, when their game was played in front of Orange TV cameras, and were soundly beaten by Featherstone Rovers. However, there was also a surprise result in the Barrow game, when they went down to a heavy defeat against a rejuvenated Batley Bulldogs side. Both teams will be looking to get back to winning ways on t'telly.

| Injuries blight TO defeat |
 |
It was a bad night for the cousins Wynn in Blagnac on Saturday night. Both suffered injuries which may keep them out for some time and the early departure of Nathan was a major setback for Toulouse. Featherstone took full advantage.

| 16-man Dragons hold out for win |
An influence, but watch the restarts |
After starting each half sluggishly, the Dragons emerged with both points on offer at Wheldon Road though not until after an almighty arm-wrestle. In front of the Sky cameras, the forwards gave as much as they got and laid the platform for the old one-two of Adam Mogg and Thomas Bosc to pull the strings. Kevin Walters sprung a major surprise by pulling off a very old-school tactic - that of the unused substitute.

| Rovers will test TO's credentials |
Try 'Dragon' him into touch: Florian Quintilla |
Featherstone Rovers roll into town this week, on the back of a narrow defeat by Barrow in the Northern Rail Cup semi-final. Toulouse, after a makeshift side triumphed over a spirited Batley team in the heat, have had a weeks rest. Their internationals have rejoined the squad after that dismal performance in Paris.

| Where are we going, exactly? |
 Face doesn't fit? |
After the disappointment of Barcelona, it's back to a more traditional type of venue this week away at Castleford, though the old Wheldon Road ground is in about the same condition as the Lluís Companys. Indeed, the sanitary facilities 'darn't Lane' are probably slightly better, which is saying something. The Dragons are unchanged which begs the question 'just what has Kane Bentley done?'

Something to look forward to |
Greg Bird missed the game in Barcelona as he was due in court for sentencing after being found guilty back in April of wounding his girlfriend with a broken glass. He has received a jail term of up to sixteen months. He was taken into custody but later released on bail pending an appeal.
So what now? |

| Barcelona in pictures. And video |
 Snigger |
Of course, you can't drag over sixteen thousand Dragons fans to Barcelona and just expect them to go to the game and go home again straight after. Deary me no. The whole of Montjuic Park was packed from quite early in the afternoon until late into the night. It's an impressive space, only spoiled by the absolute dump that is the stadium once you're inside it. It's concrete, crumbling and an absolute hole. No wonder Espanyol are moving out. And that's a shame, because everything else about the venue is bob on.

| The game in Spain pours mainly on the pain |
 Can't win without him |
All bar 1500 or so of the 18,000+ crowd at Estadí Lluis Companys in Barcelona went home disappointed after a dismal second half saw Warrington leave Super League's first venture into Spain with the league points. With both sides lacking one of their main playmakers, it was Warrington who adapted best and took the spoils, though the party atmosphere was only slightly diluted by the outcome of the game.
